They considered him too well-dressed for someone in receipt of welfare. The police saw this as evidence that he was supporting himself and his family through theft. They found no evidence of him having committed a crime. He is known here as a career criminal because he lives almost exclusively from the proceeds of his crimes. In his circle of acquaintances, he is nicknamed the \u00bbbaron\u00ab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sch\u00e4fer is currently in receipt of welfare; he does not receive a pension. However, he refused. He rejected the accusation that he was a \u00bbcareer criminal\u00ab who did not work and supported himself solely through theft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-boom-spacer\" questioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>VThe electrical fitter Heinrich Wilhelm Sch\u00e4fer,<br>born on 2 January 1902<br>in Marburg-Lahn,<br>most recent address in Marburg-Lahn,<br>am Krekel 3 1\/2 (street and house number), was brought in for questioning<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and declared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today I was informed that on the basis of the Decree of the Prussian Ministry of the Interior \u2013 II C II 31 no. 356\/33 \u2013 (13 November 1933) and II C II no. 22 37\/34 (10 February 1934),<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">on February 27 1934<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have been placed in preventive police custody because I am to be considered a career criminal according to the abovementioned decrees<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>read aloud, approved, signed difference. In March 1934 the police incarcerated him in Lichtenburg concentration camp; he was subsequently confined in the concentration camps at Esterwegen, Sachsenhausen and Flossenb\u00fcrg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After Heinrich Sch\u00e4fer had spent nearly five years in concentration camps, the \u00bbpreventive custody\u00ab order was revoked in January 1939. In the years that followed he worked as an assistant stoker at Marburg Regional Psychiatric Hospital. However, despite being a free man, he remained under police surveillance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 30 September 1943 the Marburg <a tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" class=\"glossary\" data-bs-toggle=\"popover\" data-bs-trigger=\"hover focus\" title=\"Gestapo\" data-bs-content-id=\"popover-id-3096\" aria-label=\"Gestapo - Glossary term\">Gestapo<\/a> arrested Heinrich Sch\u00e4fer. According to the files he had broken the Law Against Malice Towards the State (the <em>\u00bb<a tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" class=\"glossary\" data-bs-toggle=\"popover\" data-bs-trigger=\"hover focus\" title=\"Heimt\u00fcckegesetz\" data-bs-content-id=\"popover-id-3102\" aria-label=\"Heimt\u00fcckegesetz - Glossary term\">Heimt\u00fcckegesetz<\/a>\u00ab<\/em>) and acted in opposition to the National Socialist state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heinrich Sch\u00e4fer was executed on 6 June 1944 in Frankfurt am Main for \u00bbundermining military morale\u00ab. He was just 42 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a>In 1949 his wife Ida and their daughters sought compensation. However, it was not until 1958 that they were awarded a compensation payment and a monthly pension. The deciding factor was, however, not Heinrich Sch\u00e4fers period of incarceration in concentration camps but his supposed violation of the Law Against Malice Towards the State On this basis the authorities recognised him as a political opponent of the National Socialist regime.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"popovers-wrapper\"><div id=\"popover-id-3997\" class=\"d-none\">\n<p>Der SD (Sicherheitsdienst des Reichsf\u00fchrers SS) wird 1931 durch den Reichsf\u00fchrer SS Heinrich Himmler zun\u00e4chst als Nachrichtendienst der SS (Schutzstaffel) gebildet und soll Informationen \u00fcber politische Gegner\/-innen und Oppositionsstr\u00f6mungen innerhalb der Nationalsozialisten sammeln. Ab 1934 wird der SD zum Nachrichtendienst der NSDAP. Er untersteht Reinhard Heydrich, der den SD 1939 im neugebildeten Reichssicherheitshauptamt mit der Sicherheitspolizei (Gestapo und Kripo) zusammenlegt.<\/p>\n<\/div><div id=\"popover-id-3102\" class=\"d-none\">\n<p>Im Dezember 1934 erl\u00e4sst die nationalsozialistische F\u00fchrung das \u00bbGesetz gegen heimt\u00fcckische Angriffe auf Staat und Partei und zum Schutz der Parteiuniformen\u00ab. Mit ihm stellt sie \u00c4u\u00dferungen unter Strafe, die \u00bbdas Wohl des Reiches, das Ansehen der Reichsregierung oder der NSDAP schwer sch\u00e4digen\u00ab.
